On the occasion of International Youth Day, an ideas workshop titled “Solutions to Environmental Problems through the Eyes of Youth” was held at the Aarhus Center of the “Armhydromet” SNCO. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the RA, specialists from UNICEF and Tumo Lab, as well as young members of the “Safe Corner” Social-Educational NGO.
The workshop aimed to foster ecological thinking among young people and provide an open platform for them to highlight environmental issues in their communities and propose innovative solutions.
The theme of this year’s International Youth Day, “Local Youth Actions for the Sustainable Development Goals and Beyond,” underscores that young people are not only a resource for the future, but also active shapers of the present—driving community leadership, innovation, and positive change.
During the event, representatives of the Ministry highlighted the role of the Aarhus Center in engaging young people in environmental processes and enhancing their awareness. They also presented the provisions of the Aarhus Convention and outlined opportunities for youth involvement in the field of ozone layer protection.
The youth representatives of the “Safe Corner” Social-Educational NGO presented the organization’s environmental programs, along with their own vision for addressing community challenges. The discussions centered on the conviction that raising environmental awareness, building relevant skills, and ensuring active youth engagement constitute long-term investments in a sustainable future.
